Resume Worksheet 8th Grade Bible Scholars! You are completing your reading of Matthew's Gospel and, from our 'Fishbowl' conversations, I have seen how much you have learned from closely reading this account of the life of Jesus! After reading chapters 23-28, your job is to POST to this BLOG answers/ thoughts/ feelings/ questions about the 3 (three) big ideas I have listed below: 1) Chapters 24 and 25 are full of parables and descriptions about the 'end of days.' Post something you thought was interesting, a question you have about what is written or anything else you have thoughts about connected with these chapters! 2) In chapter 26, Judas (and other disciples) become 'indignant' (or get mad!) at Jesus for something he allows to be done. This is even the final straw for Judas who then betrays him! How do you feel about what Jesus did? If you were following Jesus as an Apostle, would you also have felt 'indignant?' Explain! 3) From many years of Lenten learning, I am sure you are familiar with the Passion of Christ. Tell me something new you have learned, something interesting you noticed or something that surprised you from reading it now as the final words of a number of weeks of study of the life of Jesus. I look forward to reading what you post! Prayer takes work! 7th graders are learning about the importance of prayer and how it can help in times of difficulty, how it can praise in times of joy and how it can heal in times of sorrow. Sometimes things block us from praying: we don't have the words, we are nervous or embarrassed, no one else is praying, etc. Let's show confidence in our faith and PRACTICE praying so others can participate with us in this action! CHALLENGE: Each 7th grade student will pray over this long weekend IN A PUBLIC WAY! Maybe it is leading prayer with the family in a restaurant. Perhaps, while in the car, an ambulance passes by and you say a prayer aloud that everyone will be ok. There are LOTS of ways for you to try praying out loud! Post a response to this blog and tell me how it went! 'Pray without ceasing' - Thessalonians 5:17 |
